Continuing with a family tradition starting in 1876, Vera de Estenas began as an innovative vineyard that introduced new varietals to the region. The wine maker started adopting new winemaking techniques which would substantially improve the quality of the wines of the region.
In the early 1980s, for the first time ever, foreign varietals such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and chardonnay were introduced into the Utiel - Requena D.O. and grown alongside the Tempranillo and more traditional Bobal vines.
The winery is now modernized and has adapted to new market needs.
